A lab boiling point is not your device setting.

Pure compounds are measured under defined pressure and laboratory conditions. Flower and concentrates are mixtures. They can release compounds below a published boiling point, degrade with heat, and move through a device unevenly. Use the numbers as landmarks—not promises.

A lighter starting zone on many dry-herb devices. Expect thinner vapor and clearer aroma cues; extraction may be incomplete.

Balanced session

A common middle path for flavor and visible vapor. Change one variable at a time before deciding the device needs more heat.

199–221°C390–430°F

Deeper extraction

Denser vapor and faster extraction are more likely, along with more roast and irritation. Stay inside the device maker’s tested range.

Edge of the map

The margin before scorching or combustion narrows quickly. Hotter is not automatically better, cleaner, or more complete.

Conduction, convection, radiant heat, and hybrid systems move energy differently.

Sensor

The display may report heater, chamber, air, or estimated temperature—not the plant itself.

Material

Moisture, grind, density, chemistry, and age change how the load heats and releases vapor.

Airflow

A faster draw can cool one system and move more hot air through another. Technique is part of the machine.

Time

A number without heat-up, soak, and draw duration is incomplete. Extraction continues across a session.

Glass

Water, path length, restriction, and cleanliness change cooling, feel, and what condenses before reaching you.

04 · CANNABINOIDS

Heating changes chemistry before it finishes extraction.

Raw plant material often contains acidic precursors such as THCA and CBDA. Heat can decarboxylate them into THC and CBD over time. That transformation is not an instant on/off switch, and a cannabinoid’s presence does not establish a health outcome.
